Yesterday on the 1st of September 2022,Puriri and a couple others from other classes went on a trip to cameron pools. First at 9:15AM we went on this big double decker bus,I sat at the top in the front with:Melody,Mele,Haiti and Sophie. When we got there we had to go in our groups.
I was in group 1 that had swimming first,We first had to get into buddies I was with my friend Jayda. Before we got in the pool we had to listen to a few rules and we had to see what gear would fit us properly. We had to try on flippers and a mask that comes with a snorkel that was quite hard to breath in,Once everyone got all their gear on we slowly jumped in the cold pool.
When we were in the pool we had to go on a surfboard while facing down and while kicking to get to the other side with our buddies. We did that a couple of times until the next group came,When the next group came we had a quick last session. So we finished our last session,so we got out for the next group to come in.
It took the girls forever to get ready for the next activity but we finally got ready and went out of the changing rooms. We had lunch witch was a burger, apple, popcorn and a lot of snacks. everyone ate and My Teacher said that we had 15 minutes to play on the park,we were playing until we had to do our next activity that was going to the creek close to the pools.
In this activity we did tests from the creek and we were seeing how clean the water was and how much oxegyn was in it. We even had a net to see what we could catch in the creek. We caught two small fishes and some worms. Now it was time to go to our 3rd and last activity, we got given this lanyard with what type of sea animal/plant you are.
We also had this other string where we had to give to the person you were eating,I was a Pāua. After we finished that we had to sit down with our EMR teacher and talk about our local creeks and what sort of project we should be doing such as,Posters, videos and so much more creative things you can come up with but it has to relate to picking up rubbish.
And everyone started coming back from their last groups so we had to talk about one more thing and that was wh questions. When we finished that we all had a little play and our bus driver was ready to go.
In class we have been learning about a speech from a Mount Roskill Grammar student, Joshua Iosefa. I have a question for you guys:) Have you ever watched his Brown Brother poem? Well if you haven’t I think you should watch it. Its so amazing, his facials, the emotions and expressions are the best. If you have a spoken speech/poetry coming up, I recommend you watch this. Oh and here’s some advice. I have used similes e.g, her hair is as shiny as a shooting star. All you have to do in similes is to use ‘as’ and ‘like’. The next thing you should be happy and confident of your speech you’re going to share to others.
